Hospitality & Tourism Course
Presented by Holland College in partnership with Tourism Industry Association of PEI - Fall 2009
Newcomers to Canada & Employment Counsellors.
For two years Holland College and the Tourism Industry Association of PEI have been offering language and hospitality training for Newcomers to Canada. We are happy to announce that for the upcoming 2009 – 2010 academic year, we are expanding and will be hosting a program for 15 participants from October to December 2009 and a second course will be begin for 12 participants from the first week of December to the end of March 2010 (exact dates to be determined).
This program is designed to:
- Improve the language level of the student
- Increase the student’s knowledge about tourism
- Develop the student’s awareness about job opportunities in tourism
- Promote employment in the tourism industry
The student will receive the following training and certification:
- Ready-to-Work certificate from the Tourism Industry Association of PEI
- SuperHost certificate
- Personality Dimensions seminar
- Tourism Essentials training
- Canadian Workplace Essentials training
The student will also participate in an ‘on-the-job’ work placement or tourism volunteer experience depending upon the length of the program.
Requirements to participate in the program are:
- Newcomer to Canada
- Language Level of 5 and above Canadian Level Benchmark
- Interested in receiving training in tourism
- Commit to the 12 or 16 weeks of hospitality training
